The Sandy's Hamburgers chain was established in Peoria, Illinois in 1958. By 1968, the company had 100 locations. In 1972, there were 240 locations when the company merged with Hardees. By 1973, 90 percent of the Sandy's locations had changed over to the Hardees name. The last Sandy's closed in 1979.
