Car City Records

Car City Records was a legendary independent record store in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, and a longtime favorite among Detroit-area music lovers. Originally founded by Peter Dale as Car City Classics, the shop became known for its enormous selection of new and used vinyl records, 45s, CDs, cassette tapes, rare imports, and hard-to-find recordings. Located on Harper Avenue, Car City Records was a gathering place for collectors, musicians, and music enthusiasts, with numerous members of Detroit's music scene working behind its counters over the years. After nearly three decades of serving the community, Car City Records closed in September 2011, leaving behind fond memories of one of Metro Detroit's most beloved independent record stores.
