Fillmore East
The legendary Fillmore East was rock promoter Bill Graham's rock venue on Second Avenue near East 6th Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It was open from March 8, 1968, to June 27, 1971, during which it featured some of the greatest musical acts of all time. Jimi Hendrix recorded "Band of Gypsys" there, while the Allman Brothers Band, Joe Cocker, Frank Zappa, the Grateful Dead, The Who, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jefferson Airplane and Miles Davis all recorded multiple live albums of their own. It was also a favorite spot for John Lennon, Led Zepplin, the Kinks, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Van Morrison and many more.
