Robert E. Lee Hotel
The Robert E. Lee Hotel in downtown Jackson, Mississippi, opened its doors in 1930 as a premier 12-story, 250-room luxury destination designed in the Italian Renaissance style. For over three decades, it served as a major social hub and political gathering place in the state's capital, renowned for its grand marble lobby and opulent ballroom. The hotel closed in 1964. After sitting vacant for five years, the building was acquired by the State of Mississippi in 1969 for use as government offices.
