Peaches Records & Tapes

Peaches Records & Tapes began in Los Angeles, California in 1974 and quickly grew into one of the country’s most memorable record-store chains. Known for enormous selections of albums and tapes, wooden record crates bearing the colorful Peaches logo, giant album-cover displays, and appearances by popular musicians, the stores became destinations for music fans during the 1970s. At its peak, Peaches operated about 50 stores in more than 20 cities across the country. The original national chain encountered financial problems and filed for bankruptcy in 1981, although some independently operated Peaches stores continued for many years afterward.
