Bebop Record Shop

Be-Bop Record Shop was a beloved Mississippi music store chain founded in April 1974 in Jackson's Fondren neighborhood, next to the old Capri Theater. What began as a small independent record shop grew into Mississippi's largest record store chain, with locations in Jackson, Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Starkville, Tupelo, and other communities across the state. Known for its extensive selection of vinyl records, 8-track tapes, cassettes, CDs, concert tickets, and hard-to-find music, Be-Bop became a gathering place for generations of music lovers and a strong supporter of Mississippi musicians. After 37 years in business, the final Be-Bop location at Maywood Mart in Jackson closed on May 28, 2011, marking the end of one of Mississippi's most cherished music retailers.
