Hegewisch Records & Tapes

Hegewisch Records & Tapes was an independent music retailer associated with Chicago's South Side and surrounding communities. Remembered for its selection of vinyl records and cassette tapes, the store served music fans during an era when neighborhood record shops were important destinations for discovering new releases and searching for favorite albums. Its name reflected the Hegewisch neighborhood on Chicago's far Southeast Side, an area with a strong local identity and longstanding musical traditions. Although Hegewisch Records & Tapes is no longer operating, it remains a nostalgic reminder of the independent record stores that once served generations of Chicago-area music lovers.
