1964-65 World's Fair - New York City

The 1964–1965 New York World’s Fair transformed Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens into a showcase of technology, transportation, entertainment, and visions of the future. Its most recognizable symbol was the towering Unisphere, while popular attractions included General Motors’ Futurama, Ford’s Magic Skyway, and Walt Disney-created experiences such as “It’s a Small World” and the Carousel of Progress. More than 50 million visits were recorded during the fair’s two seasons, making it one of the defining American cultural events of the 1960s. Although most of the pavilions disappeared after the fair closed, the Unisphere and other surviving landmarks remain enduring reminders of an era fascinated by progress and the possibilities of tomorrow. This piece of apparel is part of our New York Entertainment Collection.
