Beefsteak Charlie’s became a popular East Coast restaurant chain in 1976, when restaurateur Larry Ellman converted many of his former Steak & Brew locations to the Beefsteak Charlie’s name. The restaurants were famous for generous promotions that included an all-you-can-eat salad bar and shrimp, along with unlimited beer, wine, or sangria with certain meals. By 1984, the chain had grown to more than 60 locations, primarily along the East Coast. Financial problems and ownership changes led to a steady decline beginning in the late 1980s, although a few locations carrying the Beefsteak Charlie’s name survived into the 2000s. This piece of apparel is part of our Chain Restaurant Collection.
