Islip Speedway

Islip Speedway was a legendary Long Island racetrack that operated in Islip, New York, from 1947 until 1984. The tiny one-fifth-mile paved oval became famous for stock-car racing, Figure 8 competition, and demolition derbies, with events from the speedway even appearing on ABC’s Wide World of Sports. Islip also made NASCAR history as the shortest track ever to host races in NASCAR’s top series, with stars including Richard Petty and Bobby Allison winning there. Today, the long-demolished “World Famous Islip Speedway” remains a beloved piece of Long Island racing history. This piece of apparel is part of our New York Entertainment Collection.
