In the Seinfeld season one episode titled "The Stakeout", Jerry wanted to get to know a woman better, so he and George devised a plan where they would wait outside of the woman's office and pretend to be meeting someone else. George came up with the name Art Corvelay and said he was an importer/exporter. At the last minute, George panicked and changed the name to Art Vandelay. George would use the name Vandelay Industries again when he claimed to have been interviewed by the fictional latex company Vandelay Industries to get an extension on his unemployment checks.
