Tower Records was one of the world's most iconic music retailers, founded by Russ Solomon in Sacramento, California, with its first standalone store opening in 1960. Named after the Tower Theatre, near the family's original record-selling operation, the chain grew into an international music empire with stores across the United States and around the world. Famous for its enormous selection of vinyl records, cassette tapes, CDs, music magazines, and concert tickets, Tower Records became a cultural landmark where music lovers, collectors, and musicians gathered to discover new releases and hard-to-find recordings. Facing competition from digital downloads, online retailers, and changing consumer habits, Tower Records closed its remaining U.S. stores in 2006, leaving behind an enduring legacy as one of the most beloved record store chains in music history. This piece of apparel is part of our Music Stores Collection.
