WADO - New York City, NY

WADO 1280 AM is a historic New York City radio station whose broadcasting roots date to 1927. Originally operating under the WGL and later WOV call letters, the station adopted the WADO name in 1959 and briefly featured Top 40 and rhythm-and-blues music before becoming a major voice in Spanish-language broadcasting during the 1960s. For generations, WADO has connected listeners throughout the New York metropolitan area through music, news, talk shows, sports, and familiar on-air personalities. Its distinctive call letters and longtime presence on the AM dial have made WADO an enduring part of New York radio history. This piece of apparel is part of our New York Music & Radio Collection.
