The 51 Drive-In Theatre was a popular outdoor movie theater located near the intersection of North State Street and Meadowbrook Road in Jackson, Mississippi. Opening on September 21, 1949, with a showing of Neptune's Daughter, starring Esther Williams and Red Skelton, the theater featured a single screen and parking for approximately 486 automobiles. For nearly 15 years, the 51 Drive-In entertained Jackson moviegoers with Hollywood films under the stars, becoming a familiar landmark along Highway 51. The theater closed on August 15, 1964, and was demolished to make way for Miller's Mart Shopping Center, where the Meadowbrook Cinema 6 later operated, leaving behind memories of one of Jackson's classic drive-in theaters. This piece of apparel is part of our Mississippi Entertainment Collection.
