Coldwater, Mississippi, is a small community in Tate County in the northwestern part of the state, about 30 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee. Established in the 19th century, the town developed around agriculture and the railroad, with cotton playing an important role in the surrounding area's economy. Coldwater retains the close-knit character and rural traditions associated with many communities of North Mississippi. Today, its location near Interstate 55 provides convenient access to both the Memphis metropolitan area and communities throughout northwest Mississippi.
