Fort Lauderdale Sun
American Retro Apparel

The Fort Lauderdale Sun were a professional soccer team that competed in the United Soccer League during the mid-1980s. Playing their inaugural season in 1984, the Sun featured several veterans of the earlier North American Soccer League and quickly became one of the USL’s strongest clubs. Fort Lauderdale captured the league’s first championship in 1984, defeating the Houston Dynamos in the title series. The team’s run was short-lived, however, as financial problems plagued the USL and the league folded during the 1985 season. This piece of apparel is part our Florida Sports Collection.
