Jackson Mall
American Retro Apparel

Jackson Mall officially opened on July 16, 1970, on Woodrow Wilson Avenue in Jackson, Mississippi, becoming the state's first enclosed shopping mall and a major destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. With its department stores, specialty shops, and restaurants, Jackson Mall quickly became a popular gathering place for families and shoppers throughout the Jackson metropolitan area. The opening of the much larger Metrocenter Mall in 1978 drew customers and retailers away from Jackson Mall, contributing to its decline, while the opening of Northpark Mall in Ridgeland in 1984 brought even more competition. After its days as a traditional shopping center ended, the property was transformed into the Jackson Medical Mall, giving one of Mississippi's pioneering retail landmarks a new purpose while preserving an important piece of Jackson's shopping history. This shirt is part of the Mississippi Retail & Shopping Collection.
