Jamesway
American Retro Apparel

Jamesway was a popular discount department store chain founded in 1961 by Herbert Fisher, with its first store opening in Jamestown, New York. Headquartered in Secaucus, New Jersey, the company expanded throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, becoming a familiar shopping destination for families seeking affordable clothing, toys, electronics, housewares, and seasonal merchandise. During its peak in the early 1990s, Jamesway operated more than 100 stores, competing with retailers such as Kmart, Bradlees, and Caldor. Facing increasing competition and financial difficulties, the company filed for bankruptcy twice before closing its remaining stores in 1995, ending more than three decades of discount retail history. This piece of apparel is part of our Department & Discount Stores Collection.
