KCBQ - San Diego, CA
American Retro Apparel

KCBQ 1170 AM was one of Southern California’s most influential Top 40 radio stations, becoming a powerhouse of San Diego broadcasting during the 1960s and 1970s. Known as “The Big 11-70,” the station featured energetic disc jockeys, memorable jingles, contests, and the biggest rock and roll hits of the era. KCBQ became especially famous for its larger-than-life personalities, including legendary radio broadcaster Charlie Tuna, and its role in shaping the sound of Southern California radio. Although the station eventually moved away from its Top 40 format, the KCBQ name remains a nostalgic reminder of the golden age of AM rock and roll radio.
