KYYS 102.1 FM, better known as “KY-102,” was one of Kansas City, Missouri's most beloved rock radio stations, becoming a fixture of the local music scene during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Known for its album-oriented rock format, memorable disc jockeys, and strong connection to Kansas City concert culture, KY-102 introduced generations of listeners to classic rock favorites and emerging artists. The station's distinctive name and familiar personalities made it a daily companion for music fans throughout the metropolitan area. Although the original KY-102 era ended in 1997 when the station changed formats, its legacy remains a cherished part of Kansas City radio history.
