Metrocenter Mall opened on March 1, 1978, in Jackson, Mississippi, becoming the state's largest enclosed shopping mall with approximately 1.25 million square feet of retail space across two levels. Anchored by McRae's, Gayfers, Sears, and later D.H. Holmes, Metrocenter quickly became a premier shopping destination, drawing customers away from the older Jackson Mall on Woodrow Wilson Avenue and contributing significantly to its eventual decline. Among Metrocenter's memorable dining establishments was Widow Watson's, a popular restaurant inside McRae's, along with the Potpourri Restaurant inside D.H. Holmes. With its bustling stores, food court, movie theater, and holiday shopping traditions, Metrocenter was a centerpiece of Jackson's retail and social life for decades before the enclosed mall closed in August 2018, leaving behind countless memories for generations of Mississippians. This shirt is part of the Mississippi Retail & Shopping Collection.
