Pinewood Motor Court

Pinewood Motor Court was established along U.S. Highway 80 east of Vicksburg in 1939, with the first eight motel units built in 1940 and 1941. The complex grew during the postwar travel boom and included the popular Pinewood Grill, with additional motel rooms added during the 1950s. As Interstate 20 diverted travelers away from old Highway 80, business declined, and the Pinewood eventually closed in 1979. This shirt is a part of our Mississippi Matchbook & Postcard Collection.
