Pup ’n’ Taco began in Southern California under entrepreneur Russell Wendell, with the first officially branded location opening in Pasadena in 1965. The drive-in chain became known for an unusual combination of inexpensive tacos, hot dogs, burgers, pastrami sandwiches, fries, and flavored slush drinks, and expanded to roughly 100 locations. By the 1970s and early 1980s, Pup ’n’ Taco had become a familiar part of Southern California’s fast-food landscape. In 1984, Taco Bell purchased 99 of its California locations, many of which were subsequently converted to Taco Bell restaurants, effectively ending the Pup ’n’ Taco chain. This piece of apparel is part of our Chain Restaurant Collection.
