Red Barn

Red Barn was a popular fast-food chain of the 1960s and 1970s, easily recognized by restaurants designed to resemble a large red barn. Founded in Springfield, Ohio, in 1961, the chain became known for the Big Barney and Barnbuster hamburgers, fried chicken, fish sandwiches, and an early self-service salad bar. Red Barn grew to roughly 300–400 locations across the United States, Canada, and Australia, while its memorable “When the Hungries Hit” advertising helped make it a favorite with families and teenagers. After ownership changes and declining corporate support, locations gradually closed as franchise agreements expired, with the Red Barn name disappearing by 1988. This piece of apparel is part of our Chain Restaurant Collection.
