The Red Hot Truck Stop was a legendary landmark in Meridian, Mississippi, opened in 1955 by D.W. and Ruth Carr on Tom Bailey Drive (U.S. Highways 11, 45, and 80). Famous for its huge neon sign, fresh garden produce, and hearty southern food, it closed in September 1999 and was demolished in June 2000, though its iconic sign still stands today.
