Round Island Lighthouse

Round Island Lighthouse is a historic maritime landmark originally located on Round Island in the Mississippi Sound, just south of Pascagoula, Mississippi. First illuminated in 1859, the lighthouse guided vessels navigating the coastal waters and approaching the busy port of Pascagoula. The distinctive brick lighthouse survived more than a century of storms before suffering severe damage from Hurricane Georges in 1998 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In 2010, the surviving structure was relocated to the mainland in Pascagoula, where it was restored and preserved as a reminder of the Mississippi Gulf Coast's rich maritime heritage.
