Ruby Chinese Restaurant

Ruby Chinese Restaurant was a beloved family-owned restaurant on Jackson Avenue in Oxford, Mississippi, opened in 1978 by Paul and Ruby Chien. For 24 years, the restaurant was a favorite among Oxford residents and Ole Miss students, known for its authentic Chinese cuisine, friendly atmosphere, and distinctive orange booths. Popular dishes included hot and sour soup, twice-cooked pork fried rice, sizzling rice soup, and the famous flaming pu-pu platter. Ruby Chinese closed in the spring of 2002, leaving behind fond memories of one of Oxford's most cherished restaurants and a dining tradition that generations of locals and Ole Miss alumni still remember.
