The Varia Drive-In Theatre was a popular outdoor movie theater located on Highway 80 West near Terry Road in Jackson, Mississippi. Opening in October 1950 with a showing of Father Is a Bachelor, starring William Holden, the theater featured a single screen and parking for approximately 500 automobiles. Operated in its early years by T. G. Solomon, the Varia became a familiar landmark along Highway 80, situated near the Alamo Motel and the Borden Milk Company with its memorable roadside cow sign. The drive-in closed on April 29, 1973, ending more than two decades of movies under the stars and leaving behind fond memories of one of Jackson's classic roadside entertainment destinations. This shirt is part of our Mississippi Entertainment Collection.
