Winky's

Winky’s was a fast-food hamburger chain founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1962 and became a familiar regional competitor to McDonald’s and Burger King. The chain was known for inexpensive hamburgers, fries, milkshakes, and its signature Winky’s Big Wink, a double-decker hamburger similar to the Big Mac. Winky’s expanded to dozens of locations, primarily in Pennsylvania and surrounding states, during the 1960s and 1970s. Increased competition and financial difficulties eventually led to the chain’s decline, and the original Winky’s restaurants disappeared during the 1980s.
